Land and Description Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.

Archival records and descriptions at Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum (EPSAM) may contain language and content now considered offensive or derogatory. This is because the original wording reflects the historical era in which the records were created. EPSAM retains this language to fully preserve the records' historical context and integrity.

We acknowledge the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action numbers 67 and 70 as calling on Museums and Archival Institutions to engage in meaningful work towards reconciliation and we appreciate our place in this work.
