Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum preserves two important Edmonton landmarks, the 1881 Schoolhouse and historic McKay Avenue School, and through them shares a piece of Edmonton and Alberta’s legacy with the greater community.
Our educational programming, archival records, event rentals and community outreach create experiences where people can engage with history and build their own memories.
We are asking for your help to support the ongoing work that preserves our historic landmarks, fosters an enduring legacy and creates memorable experiences.

Materials and Records Donations
Private Donors
We accept private donations of records and objects that are relevant to the history of Edmonton Public Schools. Prior to donating, please fill in this Google form. After receiving your form, the Archivist will inform you whether your records and objects are suitable for Archives and Museum's holdings. A number of criteria are considered before we accept new materials.
Corporate Donors
Operational Schools are directed by the Board Approved Division Retention Schedule to retain historical school material on site until the school is identified for permanent closure. This practice ensures Archives and Museum has the space to accept records and objects from closing schools and schools undergoing major modernization projects, as these historical school materials absolutely need to be removed from those buildings. Kindly email archivesmuseum@epsb.ca if you have any questions.
